The beginning of history
During her stay on Norfolk island she had two children, one before she was barely 15 (in 1793) and another two years later when she was 17 (1785). There is no record of who the father of her first two children is though.
Mary left Norfolk island with and Irish transportee, Teague Harrigan, in 1793 and stayed in a tent along a river in Sydney. It was here that Mary had her third child, Edward. Teague left in 1806 for a whaling expedition, but never returned.
Mary then lived with Jonathan Brooker on the Hawkesbury river in New South Wales from 1809. Mary raised her family of twenty-one with Jonathan. Seven of Mary’s children then left the family home to live alone and have children of their own.
